Shelton Vision's Pattern Inspection Process

01 - Image Capture:

  • High-resolution cameras capture images of the fabric in real-time as it moves through the inspection system.

02 - Pattern Analysis:

  • The system uses a technique based on the pattern repeat to render the fabric into a form that exposes all defect types including those originating from yarn, fabric construction, patterning process, contamination &  handling and finishing.
  • Any deviations from the expected pattern, such as misalignment, missing elements, or shade inconsistencies can be detected.

03 - Defect Detection:

  • Detected defects are classified and graded by an AI engine in real time during inspection based on their type and severity.
  • The system filters out numerous minor defects and contamination while highlighting significant issues that require attention.

04 - Defect Mapping:

  • An electronic defect map is generated, displaying the image, location and nature of each detected defect.
  • This map provides a visual guide for further inspection and decision-making processes.

05 - Review and Optimisation:

  • Operators or supervisors review the defect map using the system wizard and make necessary adjustments to align with commercial requirements.
  • The optimized defect map is then used to create a cutting plan that maximizes yield and minimizes waste.

Benefits of the Pattern Inspection System

Enhanced Accuracy: Proprietry in house developed  algorithms ensure precise defect detection feeding the AI classification with feature rich data.

Increased Efficiency: Real-time inspection and automation reduce manual labor and speed up the production process.

Consistency: Ensures consistent quality across different fabric types and production batches.

Cost Savings: Minimises waste and reduces the need for rework, leading to significant cost savings.

Improved Yield: Optimised cutting plans maximize yield from each batch, enhancing overall productivity and providing significant ROI : 1% increase in yield = 1% of revenue onto the bottom line.

VIDEO DEMONSTRATION

In this video, Shelton Vision demonstrates an advanced pattern inspection process for camouflage materials. The technology focuses on detecting defects by subtracting the repeating pattern of the camouflage fabric. By isolating the regular pattern, the system identifies irregularities and faults that deviate from the intended design. This method ensures high precision in quality control by sounding an early warning alarm and alerting the operator to any defects early on in the process.
